Rebuild, Auto Rebuild, and Custom Build Client Version

TABLE OF CONTENTS

What is Rebuild?

Rebuilding involves packaging the extensions with the latest system changes. It's important to note that rebuilding is specifically applicable to applications installed via extension mode. For applications installed via injected mode, Apty seamlessly integrates updated code snippets into the host application to implement necessary updates and changes.

When do we Rebuild?

  • While upgrading or downgrading the Apty Client to one of the supported versions
  • While modifying the Application URLs of the host application

What is Auto Rebuild?

Previously, when an upgrade or downgrade was necessary, Administrators would manually rebuild the Apty Client by clicking the Rebuild button on the Downloads screen within System Settings. Now, with the implementation of auto rebuild functionality, admins have the convenience of selecting the desired version for upgrade or downgrade without the need for manual rebuilding. This feature ensures that when admins choose a version, the respective packages are automatically updated. Auto Rebuild is a built-in feature that comes with the Client Version feature.

Auto-rebuild becomes necessary during the following scenarios:

  • While upgrading or downgrading the Apty Client to one of the supported versions
  • While modifying the Application URLs

The below description explains how auto-rebuild functionality works for applications installed via extension mode.

How does Auto Rebuild functionality work for Extension Mode?

While Upgrading/Downgrading Apty Client

PATH: Login to Admin Console > On the bottom of left side panel > System Settings > Downloads

Administrators simply need to choose the desired version for upgrade or downgrade, and the rebuilding process will occur automatically.

While Modifying the Application URLs

PATH: To push the rebuild to end-users: Log in to the Admin Console > On the bottom of the left side panel > System Settings > Client Version > Under Extensions Client Version > Rebuild and Push

Whenever Application URLs for a particular host application are updated and saved, the following screen appears. It asks admins to download and test the latest version locally.

After that go to the Client Version page and click on Rebuild and Push to push the changes to end-users.

What is Custom Build?

Apty offers custom build solutions to fulfill an immediate requirement from a client or resolve a client-specific issue. This process will be assisted by the Customer Success team of Apty. After a successful roll-out of the custom build, Admins will be able to find the custom version in the drop-down menu on the Downloads page as well as the Client Version page.

Custom build format:<version>-<customer/tenant name>
Example: 4.20.0-customer1

How to Access Custom Build?

  1. Reload or log in to the Apty Admin Console.
  2. Go to the Downloads screen to start seeing this option in the versions drop-down.
  3. Select the custom version from the drop-down.
  4. Download and test it.
  5. Once testing is successful, navigate to the Client Version screen and then apply this custom version as your default version for all end-users.
