What is Content Aggregation?
Content Aggregation helps the clients or partners to group the information in the knowledge base with any common name/topic and display it on the Apty Widget with the grouping.
Where to find this feature?
You can find the Content Aggregation feature in the path mentioned below:
PATH: Admin Console > Select the Application from the left sidebar > Click on the Settings Icon > Manage Current Application page > Content Aggregation |
Step 1: Open the application
Content Aggregation is application specific, so click on the required hosted application for which you want to add the Content Aggregation.
Step 2: Click on Settings icon
Open Manage Current Application page as shown below.
Step 3: Click on Content Aggregation
Content Aggregation dashboard shows up as shown below.
What are the features available in the Content Aggregation dashboard?
Within this Content aggregation feature we get the primary Content Aggregation dashboard with Source name, Repository (type of knowledge base), Status (Active will be shown if the sync is working fine, Failed will be shown if the sync is broken and Syncing will be shown if the syncing is in progress) and Last Synced (the date on which the content from this knowledge base was last synced). Also we can pause, edit or delete the source added.
How to add Content Aggregation?
Step 1: Click on Add Source button
Click the Add source button to create a new source with new parameters.
Step 2: Add Source name, Repository, Language, URL, Username and Password/API token
What is Source Name?
Source name is a unique title that defines about the content grouped.
What is Repository?
Repository is the type of knowledge base, currently Apty supports Confluence and Zendesk as Repository.
Which URL details needs to be added?
This is the link from which we need to pull the documents to display in Apty Widget or player.
Why do we require Authentication?
Since the data will be pulled from a private repository it will be protected, so we need to enter the username and API token key details to pull the data from the repository.
Step 3: Add Crawl information
What is Crawl entire repository URL?
When this option is selected all the documents in the repository will be shown in Apty widget.
Step 4: Add Sync Frequency
What is Sync frequency?
It is the time period after which the data can undergo syncing. Apty provides you two options to sync the data manually and automatically;
A) Sync Manually, once the manual option is selected and when the data gets updated, clients or partners can sync the data whenever required by clicking on the against the respective source name and selecting the Sync Now option.
B) sync automatically, here users can select the time period after which the data needs to be synced, this can be done by selecting Every option and from the dropdown (every 3 days, 5 days, 1 week, 2 week or 1 month) select the time for next sync to happen.
Note: The Sync Now option in the dashboard will be available for both automatic and manual syncing. |
How to use this feature in Apty Widget?
Once the information is grouped and added in the Content Aggregation dashboard, the grouped content with the source name will be displayed in the Apty Need Help Widget. Here user can select the dropdown option from the respective source name and select the required topic, which will lead them to the destination document.
Upcoming plans for Content Aggregation: Apty have laid the ground work for Crawl only for specific links, here rules will be added for specific URL’s, this will avoid crawling to all the list of documents present inside the respective labels in Apty client. |
Note: Feature flag needs to be enabled to use this feature. |
